AMELIA LAVERY,
INSTRUCTOR
Amelia was first introduced to Pilates in 1994 and has been passionately committed to the method ever since. Initially drawn to it to complement her classical ballet training, she quickly recognised the depth and effectiveness of the practice—not just for dancers, but for overall movement quality and physical well-being. She began her Pilates journey in Melbourne under the guidance of Andrew Baxter, training at the Australian Ballet Centre and later continuing at his own studio, Body Concept Studio.
With a strong foundation in Classical Ballet, Amelia also explored Jazz, Contemporary, and Ballroom dance styles, which broadened her movement vocabulary and deepened her understanding of coordination, control, and body mechanics. This lifelong immersion in movement naturally led her to appreciate the precision and intelligence behind Pilates. Her growing passion for Pilates eventually inspired her to pursue formal training, and in 2019, she became a Certified Polestar Pilates Studio Practitioner, further refining her skills in mindful, functional movement and rehabilitation-based approaches.
Following her certification, Amelia taught at Isofit in Hong Kong—Polestar’s Asia Headquarters—where she gained valuable experience working with a diverse clientele. Since relocating to Singapore, she has continued to share her passion for Pilates by leading group mat classes in the corporate space, helping her colleagues build strength, improve posture, and boost energy through movement. Amelia’s teaching is grounded in precision, fluidity, and a deep respect for how Pilates can support every body across all stages of life.
